Free artist talk series at Sparrow Art Supply

‘THRESHOLD CROSSING’ BY Charon Henning

‏Come to downtown Middlebury and check out Palette Perspectives — a series of free artist talks and demonstrations hosted by Sparrow Art Supply (44 Main Street) featuring artists from “Inked,” the fall exhibition. Over three Thursday evenings, at 6:30 p.m., artists will share in depth about their creative process, inspiration, and artistic journey. These are free events, but space is limited. James creates art from code using algorithmic systems. He will demonstrate his process of blending computer science, geometry, and mathematics with drawing machines, showing how digital precision contrasts with real-world imperfection. ‏Pen & Ink Illustration
Elisa is an illustrator and writer who works with pen, ink, and the digital tool Procreate, drawing inspiration from nature and the world around her. Her work seeks to tell stories, whether through the interplay of words and images in comics or through single illustrations that evoke complex narratives. Attendees will gain insight into her fine line work technique, influenced by childhood favorites like Tove Jansson and Ilon Wikland, and how she finds solace in creating art that reflects the beauty of Vermont’s woods and mountains.

‏Ink & Scratch Board
Charon explores liminal and legendary spaces through her art, using ink on clayboard to capture both drama and beauty. Her process of adding and removing ink allows her to convey the uncanny and awe-inspiring qualities of these spaces. Attendees will learn how she uses these techniques to evoke a sense of wonder, creating images that carry deeper significance when tied to specific names, times, and places.
