Madden to lead mushroom walk

ORWELL — Join mushroom expert Meg Madden on Sunday, Aug. 18, for her mushroom exploration walk at the Mount Independence State Historic Site. The program runs from 1 to 3 p.m. She’ll provide an orientation first, and then lead you out to look for and learn about the mushrooms that grow at Mount Independence. This walk is always a fascinating time.

Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. It is suggested you call the site in advance to reserve your spot. 802-948-2000. The program is sponsored by the Mount Independence Coalition, the friends group for the historic site. The walk is included in regular museum admission of $8 for adults, $1 for children 6-14, and under 6 free. It’s lso free to Coalition members and holders of Green Mountain Passports.
