Richard ‘Dickie’ Victor Denett Jr., 75, of Shoreham

RICHARD “DICKIE” VICTOR DENETT JR.

SHOREHAM — Richard “Dickie” Victor Denett Jr. was born on July 13, 1948, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., to his parents, Richard Victor Denett Sr. and Thelma Ruth (Beers) Denett. He peacefully passed away at home on Jan. 30, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories of a well-lived life. Now, he’s finding peace in Heaven, enjoying a well-deserved Michelob Light.

Richard demonstrated his love for his country by serving in the Army from 1968 to 1970 in Heidelberg, Germany. After completing his military service, Richard engaged in various occupations, including working as a carpenter, contributing to his family’s farm, and being employed at Monument Farms Dairy.

Known for his love of woodworking and a fantastic sense of humor, even though he wasn’t a fan of being photographed, the vibrant spirit he possessed will forever be cherished in our hearts. Fondly remembered for his lighthearted teasing of nieces and nephews, he built enduring bonds and was affectionately called Uncle Wingnut.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his longtime partner, Cheryl (Newville) Pouliot; Denny Pouliot, who he considered his son; and nephew Gene Oliver.

He leaves behind his two sisters, Ruth (Denett) and husband Dexter Oliver and Sandra (Denett) and husband Stephen Bessette; Gene Pouliot and wife Joy (Danyow) whom he considered his children; and his legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Shay Pouliot and Connor Pouliot; his four nieces, Pam (Oliver) and Jeff Correia, Becky (Oliver) and Paul Plouffe, Amy (Bessette) and Gregg Pawlowski, and Christina Bessette; and many great nieces and nephews.

May the memory of Richard “Dickie” Victor Denett Jr. bring comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We want to express our gratitude to Addison County Home Health and Hospice for their assistance. Any donations in Richard’s memory can be directed to them.

Services to celebrate and honor Dick’s life will take place in the spring. ◊
