GEORGE NILES DEVOID

SALISBURY — George Niles Devoid passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center at the age of 38.

Niles was born Nov. 4, 1985, in Middlebury, Vt. He was the son of George E. and Jackie Devoid.

Niles grew up in Salisbury on the family farm, graduating from MUHS in 2004. He worked at Berthiaume Brothers Dairy Farm and JP Carrara & Sons for several years before returning to the farm he loved.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. But his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his son Graedyn. They spent countless hours together exploring the pond while teaching Graedyn to fish, hiking through sugar woods learning about sugaring and hunting possibilities. They were often found roaming the farm finding things to do together.

Niles is survived by his parents, George and Jackie Devoid; his son, Graedyn, and Graedyn’s mother, Shanyn Leduc; his sister Jennifer and her partner, Steve Aruzza; nephews Tucker and Griffin; and grandmother Connie Needham.

He was predeceased by his sister Jamie and grandparents Jon Needham and George and Lois Devoid.

There will be no visiting hours. Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Salisbury Congregational Church, 853 Maple St, Salisbury, Vt., with a reception to follow. A private burial will be held at Holman Cemetery in Salisbury, Vt.

In Lieu of flowers, Niles would have wanted contributions to be made to a fund being set up for his son, Graedyn, at the National Bank of Middlebury, PO Box 189, Middlebury, VT 05753.
