Meagan MacIntyre receives honors from the Girl Scouts
VERGENNES — What began as a way to give her own daughter the Girl Scout experience has led one woman to provide the enrichment and friendship of Girl Scouts to many more in Vergennes. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains has named Meagan MacIntire its Volunteer of the Month for October in appreciation of her dedication to its mission of creating young women of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
MacIntire, 35, of Vergennes, a stained-glass artist who homeschools her own children, leads Girl Scout Troop 63425 in Vergennes, and is a helper for Troop 60253.
“It is so rewarding,” MacIntire said of her troop leader experience. “It takes some planning and that’s OK. Everything in life takes planning. But it is so rewarding to see the success and happiness of the girls, to know that you are helping the next generation do amazing things, probably things you didn’t get a chance to do when you were younger.”
