Vergennes Day is coming on Aug. 25

BATH TIME CAME early for many area kids when the Vergennes Fire Department followed up its Vergennes Day breakfast with fun in a makeshift pool filled with sudsy foam at Vergennes Day a few years back.

VERGENNES — Vergennes Day kicks off its 41st year on Friday, Aug. 25, and continues on Saturday, Aug. 26. Vergennes Day is a celebration of the city and community to be enjoyed by all ages.

The weekend begins with a street dance from 7-10 p.m. on the City Green featuring music by The Hitmen. Activities continue Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day begins with a pancake breakfast

at the Vergennes Fire Station on Green Street from 7 to 10:30 a.m. The “Little City Races” — including a 5-kilometer Run/Walk, 10K and 15K races and a Kids 1K Fun Run — kick off at 8:15 a.m. at Vergennes Union Elementary School. Registration is available at https://runsignup.com/Race/VT/Vergennes/VergennesDayRace2023.

Other activities include free horse and wagon rides sponsored by Vermont Federal Credit Union, and events hosted by the Bixby Library and Vergennes Rotary. The bandstand will feature music throughout the day. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the City Green is also the site of more than 60 crafters and vendor booths offering fine handcrafts, locally made products, food and more.
