BRISTOL — Bristol police dealt with a handful of incidents involving loose dogs earlier this month. 

On July 2, police found the owner of a dog that had been running loose on West Street.

On July 3, police were told a dog had run away from a South Street home, but later heard from the owner the dog had been found. Also on July 3, police responded to Mountain Street for a report of a dog that had followed someone home from West Street. The dog’s owner was found, and the animal was returned.

On July 6, Bristol police responded to a complaint of a dog at large. The dog was found and returned to its owner, who was issued a warning. 

Between July 2 and 8, Bristol police completed five foot patrols, conducted eight traffic stops and checked the security at Mount Abraham Union High School four times, at Bristol Elementary School four times and at local businesses three times. 

Police also processed eight fingerprint requests, conducted one welfare check and helped one person get into their locked vehicle. 

In other recent activity, Bristol police: 

• On July 2, helped an individual find someone who had wandered onto Main Street. 

• On July 2, responded to a fight between two men on Main Street. Police cited Tyler Barker, 23, of Bristol, for violating conditions of release and for simple assault. 

• On July 2, received a report of threatening on Airport Road. An investigation is ongoing.

• On July 3, received a report of theft on Airport Drive. An investigation is ongoing. 

• On July 3, responded to a two vehicle crashes on West Street that resulted in no injuries. 

• On July 3, responded to a 911 hang-up call. The officer assisted the caller, who was trying to do a test on their Life Alert system. 

• On July 4, responded to a theft complaint on South Street. An investigation is ongoing. 

• On July 5, responded to a Maple Street residence for a report of a potential break-in. Police determined the report was unfounded. 

• On July 7, assisted the Department for Children & Families with an emergency home check on Garfield Street. 

• On July 7, participated in the procession for a Rutland police officer who was recently killed in the line of duty.
