Letter to the editor: A poetic rejoinder to the Mead Chapel controversy

No Good Mead Will Go Unpunished

Swooping down, a righteous vulture

Points his talons at “Cancel Culture”

Enough! he squawks, leave the pastard be

Let wrongs live on in history

Look the other way, you say

Disgrace ignored is quite okay

Just pretend Mead’s family name

Is not forever stained with shame

The truth, you insist, must be denied

And all the tears the victims cried

So what if they lost their testicles

Drown their screams with chapel bells

Even if you win your suit

The voice of God will not be mute

The Divine’s judgment you cannot quell

Heaven’s not where Mead will dwell.
