College to mark Winter Carnival with fireworks on Saturday

As Middlebury College hosts its annual Winter Carnival this weekend, the college will set off a fireworks display for all to see on Saturday, Feb. 19. The show will begin at 9 p.m.

The fireworks will be launched at the Athletic Field, south of Kenyon Arena. The rain date for the fireworks is Sunday, Feb. 20, at 9 p.m.

The centerpiece of the 98th Middlebury Winter Carnival is the athletic competitions up on the mountain.

The Panther alpine and Nordic ski teams continue their carnival season with races at home this weekend. Nordic events will be contested at the Rikert Nordic Center, while alpine action will be held at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl.

Middlebury is celebrating Senior Day on Friday, honoring alpine skiers Lucia Bailey, Justin Alkier and Samantha McClellan, and Nordic skiers Avery Ellis and Peter Wolter.
