Welch launches campaign to replace Leahy

As expected, Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt., announced early Monday that after more than 14 years in the 435-member U.S. House of Representatives he’ll run for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Patrick Leahy when his term ends in January 2023.
