MUHS girls’ hockey splits games

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team split a pair of games last week and held a 2-1 record heading into this week’s action.
The Tigers were set to host U-32 on Wednesday evening after the deadline for the Independent and are scheduled to visit Harwood/Northfield on Saturday.
On Feb. 17 the Tigers for the second straight game scored three unanswered second-period goals to snap a tie, this time at Rutland on the way to a 7-3 victory. The teams were tied at 1-1 after one period and goals by McKenna Raymond, Lily Finn and Audrey Schnoor broke the game open in the middle 15 minutes.
Finn, Ella Tucker and Schnoor scored two goals apiece to lead the Tiger attack, and Channing Brush assisted three scores. Tiger goalie Abby Hodsden made 28 saves.
Alexis Patterson led Rutland with a goal and two assists, and Raven goalie Lindsay Taylor was credited with 20 stops.
On Saturday the host Champlain Valley/Mt. Mansfield collective dealt the Tigers their first setback, 2-1. CVU/MMU got the tiebreaking goal in the third period. Tucker netted the MUHS goal, and goalie Lydia Deppman stopped 18 shots for the Tigers. CVU/MMU held a 20-19 edge in shots on goal.
