Vermont State Police Log for Jan. 21

ADDISON COUNTY — At a few minutes before midnight on this past Friday, Jan. 15, Vermont State Police rushed to a reported burglary in progress at a home on Morgan Horse Farm Road in Weybridge. As they were arriving, troopers saw a truck near the residence, driving toward Middlebury.
After speaking with a witness on scene, troopers and Middlebury police officers located the truck, stopped it and identified the driver as Robert Morin, 55, of Salisbury.
After investigating, police alleged that Morin had entered the residence with the intent to commit petit larceny. Troopers also report that Morin tried to deflect their investigation by lying to them.
State police cited Moran for burglary and for provided false information to law enforcement officers.
In other recent action, state police:
•  On Jan. 12 at 10:30 a.m. responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh just south of Stage Road.
Police allege that Benji Hodgdon, 29, of Fairfax was heading south and attempted to make a U-turn when his vehicle was struck by a southbound tractor-trailer driven by Juan Ponce Rivera, 41, of Elizabeth, N.J. The 2009 Volvo tractor-trailer stuck Hodgdon’s 2010 Kia on the driver’s side and was a total loss. Rivera’s tractor-trailer sustained minor front-end damage.
Hodgdon was transported by EMS to UVM Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Rivera was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Police closed Route 7 for approximately 25 minutes while both vehicles were removed from the scene.
•  On Jan. 15 at 8:50 p.m. logged a report of a one-car crash on South Middlebrook Road near Route 7 in Waltham. After talking with the driver, identified at 51-year-old Megan Smith of Weybridge, troopers asked Smith to perform field sobriety tests, which she did.
