Janet Warren, 74, of Cornwall
CORNWALL — Janet Warren, 74, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, of cancer, consequent upon an inherited genetic anomaly that predisposes carriers to numerous cancers.
Janet grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, came to Middlebury to attend college, and stayed for the rest of her life. Some will remember her from her long tenure on the staff of the original Vermont Book Shop, in the era of the founder Dike Blair, and his successor Laura Scott. Janet was a creative cook, an accomplished artist, an avid gardener, a dedicated lover of animals, and a committed partisan of nature and the environment.
Janet is survived by her husband of 52 years, William, and by two sisters, Debbie Schell of Lewes, Del., and Laura Harris of Oneonta, N.Y. Her brother Steve died several years ago, also of cancer.
Janet’s survivors extend their gratitude to her oncologist, Dr. Paul Unger, who provided compassionate care during her lengthy siege, and the staff at Porter Hospital, whose solicitous attentiveness enabled her to spend her final days in comfort and tranquility.
In accordance with Janet’s wishes, there will be no funeral or other formal commemoration.◊
