Letter to the editor: Class of 2020 deserves some fireworks

This year, on account of school closings, high schoolers in the county will miss a traditional graduation celebration. School officials across the county are working hard to make the graduates’ day a memorable one despite current challenges. I’d like to add a suggestion for some graduation fun: would fireworks to honor the 2020 Addison County high school graduates be a possibility?
The fireworks could be set off on each high school property in the county on the night that diplomas have been picked up or the night that graduation was expected to happen. The young adults who are graduating this year could enjoy the fireworks in their honor from their homes (with their families) or any places in town that are appropriate. I think that this would be an exciting and special way to celebrate the academic and extracurricular efforts and accomplishments of the high school Classes of 2020.
