Virus puts Earth Day festivities on hold

BRISTOL — Art on Main was so excited to be taking the lead in Bristol in the celebration of Earth Day 2020, which is coming up April 22. The gallery had scheduled a themed exhibit titled “Earth Year 2020,” a community art event at Holly Hall, music, poetry readings, and a month-long fundraising effort to raise money for an environmental organization. 
But all of that has been postponed as we all diligently abide by the necessary social distancing to keep ourselves and our families, or community, and our healthcare workers safe.
Art on Main folks said they would move ahead with their plans once our community opens. 
“At this juncture we do not know when or how that will happen; but when it does, Art on Main will be ready to celebrate Earth Day — or rather Earth Year,” officials said in a press release. “We were prescient in choosing that title for our gallery exhibit because, indeed, this is an Earth Year. 
“This is the year we stopped, and Earth was able to take a breath. We will see what we learn from this, and where it goes.”
Earth Day events have been postponed, but Earth Day will still arrive next Wednesday, April 22.
