Tiger and Eagle Nordic All-Stars named

TIGER SENIOR WILL Carpenter, seen here at Rikert Nordic Center in the classic championship race, earned Honorable Mention as a Division II Nordic All-Star after skiing to 10th- and 18th-place finishes at the two-day championship meet.

ADDISON COUNTY — Four Nordic skiers from Middlebury Union High School and one from Mount Abraham were named Division II All-Stars, and another three Tigers and one Eagle earned honorable mention.
Those named all-stars earned the 10 best combined times for the freestyle and classic state races over the two-day state championship competition, and honorable mentions went to those with the next best five combined times.
Three Tiger boys earned All-Star status: Jack Christner, Zach Wilkerson and Elvis McIntosh.
Christner won the classic race and finished fourth in the freestyle, and also anchored both of the Tigers’ winning relay teams.
Wilkerson posted fourth- and 12th-place finishes and skied on both relay teams, while McIntosh skied to 10th- and 11th-place finishes and skied on the classic relay team.
Earning honorable mention for MUHS were Will Carpenter, who earned 10th- and 11th- place finishes and skied on both relay teams, and Lucas Palcsik, who finished 9th and 19th and skied on the freestyle relay team.
From Mount Abe Joe Graziadei earned D-II honorable mention as an independent with 8th- and 22nd-place efforts.
For the Tiger girls Phoebe Hussey earned All-Star status by finishing fifth in both races. Malia Hodges was awarded honorable mention with 17th- and 13th-place efforts. Both skied on the Tigers’ second-place relay teams.
Mount Abe’s Addie Harris became an all-star after posting 9th- and 8th-place finishes.
The Tiger Nordic teams were arguably the county’s most successful this winter, both finishing second to U-32. The boys, with Christner leading the way, won three out of the four races, but the Raiders edged them by just seven points.
