Free artist talk at Middlebury gallery

"ORWELL BARN," A photograph by Jim Westphalen

MIDDLEBURY — Coming up next Thursday, March 12, Shelburne photographer Jim Westphalen will give an artist talk at Edgewater Gallery on the Green in Middlebury, from 5-7 p.m. During the talk “Vanish Series: The Art and Process,” Westphalen will discuss “The Vanish” collection and how it chronicles and honors the handsome structures that have stood proudly along the byways and in the fields of local landscapes for generations. Westphalen captures their dignity and beauty with his unique photographic method, printing process and presentation.
He will talk about the path that led him to his subject matter, the process of creating the collection, as well as the techniques he has developed that have led to the unique and dramatic presentation of his work. A question and answer session will follow the talk and refreshments will be served.
The event is free and open to the public.
