Registration open for first Vermont Big Sing event

MIDDLEBURY — Coming in mid-July, enthusiastic singers will gather from all across Vermont — as well as Quebec, upstate New York, and northern New Hampshire — for a day of celebratory singing. This first-ever Vermont Big Sing event is organized by Moira Smiley in partnership with Bread Loaf School of English’s Centennial Celebration and presented by Middlebury College.
Led by exceptional musical artists of several genres and traditions, participants will sing all together from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, and then hold a collaborative concert the same night. The event will take place in Mead Chapel on the Middlebury College campus.
Registered singers will receive mp3s and sheet music digitally (in April), to get familiar with the pieces. Music will cover a wide range of genres to welcome singers of all styles and experiences to sing.
To be part of this large collaboration, advance registration is required. Costs are $30 per singer, which includes the five-hour afternoon sing and the evening concert. Individual singers and large-number choirs are all invited to participate. There are group discounts available for registering 10 or more singers. Registration will close on May 1. Note: all minors must be accompanied by an adult on July 11.
