In boys’ basketball, Eagles, Otters prevail; VUHS edged
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ basketball action earlier this week, Mount Abraham and Otter Valley pulled out victories, but Vergennes came up short on the road.
Middlebury was set to host Division II title favorite Fair Haven on Wednesday after deadline for this edition.
EAGLES
On Tuesday the Eagles held on for a 51-48 victory at Enosburg, moving over .500 at 5-4 as a result.
Liam Kelliher led the Eagles with 15 points and hit three of four free throws in the late going to help Mount Abe seal the win. Henry Cogswell added 12 points for Mount Abe. Ethan Williams paced the Hornets with 17 points, and Devyn Gleason scored 11, all as Enosburg rallied in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles will host OV on Friday.
OTTERS
On Monday, the Otters defeated Windsor in overtime, 62-55. Late free throws and the scoring of Dylan Gaboriault (14 points) and Logan Trombley (12) proved to be pivotal.
John Cook and Caden Lockwood scored 15 points apiece for Windsor.
The Otters improved to 3-5 heading into their game at Mount Abe, where they will be looking to avenge a Dec. 20, 72-56 home loss.
COMMODORES
On Monday host Harwood topped the Commodores, 40-34. Kevin Jackson scored eight, and Ben Curtis tossed in six points and grabbed seven rebounds as VUHS dropped to 0-7 with a Friday trip to Fairfax up next.
