Letter to the editor: ACSD continues to seek feedback on facilities
The Addison Central School District Board continues to gather and process information needed to develop the ACSD Facilities Master Plan. Now over two years into the development of the plan, we continue to recognize how important it is for us to create a road map that leverages our strength as a unified district, responds to declining enrollment, and allows us to be proactive in responding to the financial pressures ahead that are impacting districts across Addison County and the state. This work is challenging, and we appreciate how important it is for our entire community to work together to confront these challenges to provide what’s best for our students within our available funding.
In order to further engage our communities, we have extended our timeline to complete the plan to the end of the school year. The board’s Planning and Engagement Committee has begun attending parent group meetings at all of our elementary schools, and board members have been active in visiting schools in session to learn more about them and their role in our community.
Plans are under way to hold a community-wide information session on Jan. 27 at Middlebury Union High School to look at our financial future and some of the decisions we will confront, and to hear from our consultant regarding findings on facilities needs across all of our elementary schools.
Please continue to check back on our website for updates, and thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to our community.
