ADDISON COUNTY — The spate of burglaries at commercial businesses continues. 
On this past Tuesday, Sept. 17, Vermont State Police responded to an early morning report of a burglary at the Champlain Beverage store on Route 7 in Leicester. Troopers report that someone broke into the store between 9 p.m. the previous night and 6 a.m. that morning. No further details were provided/
That follows troopers’ investigation into the Sept. 11 report of a burglary at the Starry Night Café on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. The investigation showed that someone force their way into the restaurant and stole an undisclosed amount of cash sometime between late on Sept. 9 and early on Sept. 11. 
Then, on the morning of Sept. 13 state police were told of a break-in and theft of an undisclosed amount cash at Palmer’s Garage on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh a mile or two north of Starry Night. Police report that someone forced their way into the building and then into a secured room inside the building between closing the night before and opening that Friday morning. 
During the past several weeks, there have been several incidents where convenience stores and gas stations have been burglarized and property has been taken. Anyone with information regarding any other burglaries of gas stations and convenience stores within Addison County is strongly encouraged to contact the New Haven state police barracks at 802-388-4919. In other recent activity, Vermont State Police:
•On Sept. 12 looked into a report of vandalism at the railroad crossing at Town Line Road in Ferrisburgh. Police learned that during the evening of Sept. 11 someone damaged signal equipment at both the Town Line Road and Long Point Road railroad crossings. Anyone with information regarding these vandalisms is asked to contact the state police; contact info provided above.
•On Sept. 13 at approximately 5:35 p.m. observed a woman driving on Fern Lake Road in Leicester; the trooper had knew the driver was under criminal suspension. When the officer used blue lights and a siren to stop the car, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, police report. The trooper later found the woman, identified as 22-year-old Makayla Hatch, at her home. The trooper took Hatch into custody, drove her to the New Haven state police barracks for processing, and released Hatch after citing her for eluding a police officer, gross negligent driving and driving with a suspended license.
•On Sept. 16 at around 7 p.m. were patrolling Route 22A in Addison and clocked a vehicle travelling at 86 mph in a 50 mph zone. Troopers cited Michelle Giard, 54, of Bridport for excessive speed.
