FAIRFAX — Host Fairfax rumbled to a 38-6 victory over the Mount Abraham-Vergennes football team on Saturday in an interdivisional matchup. The Division III Bullets improved to 5-3, while the D-II Eagles wrap up their season at 1-7.
The bright spot for the Eagles proved to be the 57 rushing yards on 16 attempts for senior back Kevin Pearsall. Although that did not approach the 200-plus yards he rambled for the week before, that total was good enough to give him 1,037 for the fall. Pearsall became the program’s first 1,000-yard rusher in a number of seasons.
Pearsall, a defensive end, also led the Eagle defense on Saturday with eight tackles, with Jacob Thomas and Christien Paquin right behind with seven each.
On Saturday Ryan Rougier scored the Eagle touchdown and ran 10 times for 46 yards, and Nevin Jemison ran seven times for 56 yards. In all the Eagles picked up 161 yards in 40 attempts, but their bid for a D-II playoff spot came up short.
