Rev. Klohck to offer talk on Dog Team founder Wilfred Grenfell
CORNWALL — The Cornwall Congregational Church invites everyone to a service on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 9:30 a.m., when the Rev. George Klohck will give an illustrated sermon on Sir Wilfred Grenfell and the medical mission that Grenfell founded in Newfoundland.
Grenfell is remembered here as the founder of the Dog Team Tavern that was a popular restaurant in New Haven, Vt., until it was lost in a tragic fire in 2006. Grenfell, who lived from 1865 till 1940, was famous in his time as a missionary doctor, adventurer, sailor, minister, humanitarian, and visionary. He made a difference in the lives of thousands of people, and his legacy lives on today.
After extensive research that was begun when George and Margaret Klohck visited Newfoundland and Labrador, Rev. Klohck has spoken about the Grenfells to many historical societies and churches. He is happy for this opportunity to tell the Grenfell story once again.
For those who wish to stay after the service there will be refreshments and an opportunity to ask questions to learn more about Sir Wilfred Grenfell and what his life says to the challenges of our present time.
