Artist studios open this weekend for leaf-peeping public

While you’re driving around admiring the leaves this weekend, stop by an artist’s workshop, too. The Vermont Crafts Council’s fall Open Studio Weekend is right around the corner, Oct. 13 and 14, when artists all across Vermont open their studios to the public. There are several in Addison County and a few more in Brandon if you want to limit yourself to ones closer to home. Look for bright yellow “Open Studio” signs along Vermont’s roads to guide you to these artists’ places of work. There is a regional open studio information center  at Art on Main, 25 Main St., Bristol. Further south, maps and information can be found at the Brandon Artists Guild at 7 Center St. in Brandon. Maps are also available online at vermontcrafts.com/OSW/fallmaps-directions or by calling (802) 223-3380.
Open Studio Weekend is a statewide celebration of the visual arts and creative process, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to meet a wide variety of local artists and craftspeople in their studios, and purchase high-quality, hand-made artwork. The self-guided Open Studio tour features the work of glassblowers, jewelers, printmakers, potters, furniture makers, weavers, ironworkers, painters, sculptors, quilt makers and wood carvers. Many participating galleries will host gallery talks and feature special exhibits in conjunction with this event.
