Milton topples Eagle football

MILTON — The host Milton High School football team on Friday outlasted Mount Abraham/Vergennes, 21-12, as the Eagles played another competitive Division II game but again came up short.
Eagle rushers Kevin Pearsall (176 yards, two touchdowns) and Nevin Jamison (75) combined for 251 yards rushing, but the visitors still managed only 12 points.
A 53-yard, third-quarter run by Milton quarterback Jacob Laware gave the Yellowjackets a cushion. Laware finished with 92 yards rushing, and also tossed a 41-yard TD pass to Colin Mathis in the second quarter. Milton back Eric Godin added a 34-yard first-half scoring run.
The Eagles visit Bellows Falls on Saturday.
