Monkton news for Sept. 3

MONTKON — This recently came to my attention:
Mindful Eating is: Allowing yourself to become aware of the positive and nurturing opportunities that are available through food preparation and consumption by respecting your own inner wisdom. Mindful Eating is: Choosing to eat food that is both pleasing to you and nourishing to your body by using all your senses to explore, savor, and taste. Mindful Eating is: Acknowledging responses to food (likes, neutral or dislikes) without judgment. Mindful Eating is: Learning to be aware of physical hunger and satiety cues to guide your decision to begin eating and to stop eating.
That came from the Center for Mindful Eating.
There will be an experiential workshop called “Mindful Eating” that will help participants establish a mindful eating practice and explore their personal relationship with food. The workshop is sponsored by the East Monkton Church Association and facilitated by Candace Polzella, M.S.S., R.D.
This five-week workshop will be held twice.
Series 1:  Tuesdays (Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25, Oct. 2) from 7-8 p.m.
Series 2:  Wednesdays (Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3) from 9-10 a.m.
Registration is required, and the fee of $25 helps restore the East Monkton Church.
All sessions will be held at the East Monkton Church, 405 Church Road, Monkton.
Contact Candace ([email protected]; 453-7575) to register or for questions.
