I would like to commend Andy Kirkaldy on his excellent two-part article about Andi Boe’s knee injury and subsequent recovery (Addison Independent, June 28 and July 5). As usual, Andy did his homework and gave his readers real insight into the challenges athletes face in trying to return to their sport after a significant injury. 
The article focused on the interactions that Andi, the patient, had with me, the surgeon. I wanted to emphasize however that Andi’s successful knee surgery could not have been possible without the excellent team of nurses, anesthesia providers and surgical technicians at UVM Health Network–Porter Medical Center.  We are fortunate to have such an important community asset to serve the health care needs of Middlebury and Addison County.
