MIDDLEBURY — Mark Sousa of Middlebury recently graduated from the Vermont Leadership Institute, which is run by the Snelling Center for Government. The commencement ceremony for the class of 2018 was held June 2 at Basin Harbor Resort in Ferrisburgh with Speaker of the House Mitzi Johnson delivering the keynote address.

As a participant in the Vermont Leadership Institute, he joined 22 other leaders from around the state for eight overnight sessions totaling 19 seminar days between September 2017 and June. Speaker Johnson congratulated the class on their hard work and accomplishments to date and offered tips for creating change as they continue their quests to better their communities and Vermont.
A leadership development program, the Vermont Leadership Institute was created in 1995 with the goal of stimulating citizen enthusiasm for and participation in public service.
The Snelling Center for Government is a non-partisan, non-profit organization committed to fostering responsible and ethical civic leadership, encouraging public service by private citizens, and promoting informed citizen participation in shaping public policy in Vermont.
