Baseball teams battle through bad weather to win

ADDISON COUNTY — Otter Valley and Vergennes picked up wins late last week in high school baseball action that was once again curtailed by rainy weather.
Mount Abraham’s only game, at Milton on Friday, was postponed due to an unplayable field. Middlebury hosted BFA-Fairfax on Thursday.
OTTERS
On Wednesday the Otters defeated host Windsor, 5-2, picking up their second win of the spring over the 5-2 Jacks. Josh Beayon earned the pitching win, going 6.1 innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out 12. Payson Williams earned the save by getting the final two outs.
OV (4-2, with both losses to D-I teams) managed only four hits, two by Beayon, off Windsor ace Seth Balch, but took advantage of the eight free passes Balch issued. OV scored twice in the third on three walks and an error, one in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk, and two in the sixth, when Beayon and Nate Hudson drove in runs.
The Otters’ Friday game at Bellows Falls was postponed.
COMMODORES
Host Spaulding defeated VUHS, 12-2, on Thursday as Tide hurler Jalen Lewis tossed a four hitter, walking none.
On Saturday afternoon the Commodores (1-5) defeated visiting Milton, 9-2, as they broke through for their first victory. Details on that game could not be obtained before deadline.
