In girls’ lacrosse, Tigers tame Rutland, 17-6
RUTLAND — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ lacrosse team cruised to a 15-6 victory over host Rutland on Tuesday, a game highlighted by Tiger senior midfielder Satchel McLaughlin’s 100th career goal.
Junior middie Emily Laframboise paced the Tigers with five goals and an assist, and senior middie Isabel Rosenberg chipped in a hat trick to help secure Middlebury’s win.
McLaughlin buried two goals in the second half to hit the 100-goal milestone and added an assist.
Senior Ella Nagy-Benson and juniors Ada Anderson and Lacey Greenamyre contributed two goals apiece, with Anderson adding an assist. Senior Olivia Beauchamp also scored as seven Tigers found the net.
A disciplined Tiger defense allowed just 12 shots on goal, and senior goalie Raven Payne finished with six saves.
Rutland was led by two goals apiece from Francie Ettori and Logan Kinsman. Goalie Leah Zmurko stopped 10 shots.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 and will next take on New Hampshire’s Hanover High School on the road this Friday.
