Young traditions tours Town Hall Theater

The Young Tradition Touring Group will perform at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater on Saturday, March 24, at 7 p.m. The group’s performance comes three weeks prior to leaving for a cultural and performance tour of Scotland.
The group consists of teen players, singers and dancers who focus on learning and performing traditional music and dance repertoire over the course of nine months. They start in September have an April performance tour and conclude in May. Group members learn from and are supported by a group manager, artist leaders and youth leaders, in addition to exchanges with young performers and organizations while on the performance tour.
This year artist leaders Pete Sutherland, Andrea Beaton and Dominique Dodge support the group, along with youth leaders Rose Jackson and Oliver Scanlon and manager Mark Sustic. The group includes 24 auditioned members ranging in age from 12-20. Though most Touring Group members are from Vermont (including Romy and Ben Munkres of Cornwall, Merry Kimble of Middlebury, and Ben Clark from Waltham), the group also includes members from Massachusetts and the Adirondacks in New York State.
Saturday evening’s performance will include two sets with an intermission. The first half will feature artist leaders and youth leaders. The second half will feature the full Touring Group.
Tickets are $20 (plus a $2 preservation fee). Funds support the Touring Group project. Tickets are on sale through the Town Hall Theater Box Office at townhalltheater.org, in person, by calling (802) 382-9222 Monday-Saturday, 12-5 p.m., or at the door starting one hour before show times.
