Ferrisburgh children to stage a farce at VUHS

VERGENNES — On Saturday, March 17, the Ferrisburgh Children’s Theater cast of 25 students will present “Haphazardly Ever After” by Jeff Fluharty at the Vergennes Union High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
The show promise to provide tons of magical fun in this original, one-of-a-kind fractured fairy tale farce.
A kind King Barnabus and Queen Matilda have trouble in their royal family — four obnoxious, bratty, adult children who do not live up to their royal titles. There’s the mean Princess Cinnamon, the not-so-bright Princess Peppermint, the vain Prince Hairgel and Prince Slacker, who thinks being a prince is just way, way too hard. The king and queen try everything to bring happiness and harmony to their family. They hire a royal therapist, bring in royal teachers and even attempt to marry off their children, all to no avail.
Of course, nothing goes as planned, but everyone is changed by their experiences. And through a series of haphazard events, the royal family just might live happily ever after in the end.
Tickets, available at the door, are $6 for adults and $3 for children.
The Ferrisburgh Children’s Theater, in it’s 18th year, is a 20-week after-school program for Ferrisburgh students in fifth and sixth grades. The primary goal of the program is to give young students a chance to experience the sense of self-confidence and joy that comes from working with a group of peers to put together a theatrical production.
The program includes playing drama games, learning basic acting skills, rehearsing the play and working on costuming, set design and construction, and prop making. The program is a volunteer effort and is funded through ticket sales, donations, and generous grants from the Ferrisburgh Central School PTO, Women of Wisdom in Vergennes, and Neat Repeats in Middlebury.
