Lincoln News for Jan. 25, 2018

LINCOLN — Community Movie Night will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Church. In keeping with the Winter Olympics theme for Hill Country Holiday weekend, this month’s movie will be Cool Runnings, a very  funny comedy hit inspired by the true story of Jamaica’s first bobsled team. “Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s bobsled time! Cool Runnings!” Popcorn, cookies and beverages provided. All ages welcome.
The Third Annual Indoor Yard Sale will be held at Mt. Abe on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Mt. Abe Travel Clubs trips to Scotland and Ireland in the spring. Shop for books, clothes, housewares, toys and much more. If you have items to donate to the sale, contact Shawna at [email protected].
Congratulations to Brittany Atkins, daughter of Victor Atkins, on being named to the dean’s list at the University of Vermont for the fall semester.
Ever wondered who lived in your area in the late 1800’s and what kind of local manufacturing was around at that time?  The Lincoln Library has teamed up with the Historical Society for an interactive display in the community room featuring historical information about the land parcels that people inhabit at the present time.
Every Friday morning starting at 7:45 a.m. the wonderful kitchen staff at the Lincoln Community School serves an Early Bird breakfast in the multi-purpose room. The cost is just $2 for adults and $1.50 for children.
After filling up on the good eats, stick around for assembly at 8:15 a.m. The students share how they’ve used their minds well, there are musical or theatrical performances and they perform skits about subjects they are studying. Make sure your vocal cords are warmed up because at the conclusion of assembly is usually a fun sing-along. There’s a little something for everyone and it’s a good glimpse into all the fun things happening at LCS. All LCS families and the greater Lincoln community are welcome.
Reminder — Town Ballot Petitions are due by Jan. 29, and require 11 signatures along with a completed consent form.
Until next time … Be Happy. Help Others. Laugh Often.
