Girls’ hockey suffers narrow loss to Northfield

MIDDLEBURY — Visiting Northfield edged the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team on Saturday, 4-3, in a Division I matchup. The Tigers, who hope to have injured all-star senior forward Helen Anderson return to the lineup soon, fell to 3-5, while the Marauders improved to 3-4-3.
The Marauders scored twice in the first 1:30 and then held off a Tiger rally led by Georgina Mraz, who netted all three MUHS goals. Four Northfield players scored a goal apiece.
Northfield goalie Kaylee Thayer stopped 12 shots, while Tiger goalie Abby Hodsden made 11 saves.
