Letter to the Editor: Column sparked happy memories

I just received my Addison Independent in the mail for Dec. 21, 2017, rather late as it came on Jan. 2, 2018. A nice surprise as I found some good reading in it from before Christmas. I was particularly drawn to Jessie Raymond, “Around The Bend” — her account of the baking of a birthday cake for her grandson and the successful outcome. I was greatly amused with her addition to being hooked on the Hallmark Channel while producing the cake.
I have watched years of Hallmark stories and she has it down to a typical storyline. Always a triangle with, as she says, a misunderstanding that tears the two prospective lovers apart until they see the light and have a wonderful wedding kiss. I have my favorites and know every word of the movie by heart. I bet there are others who are the same. Now that there are two Hallmark Channels, there are lots of choices to make. Nice to find stories with innocence, predictable, and always a happy ending. A good change from the 7 o’clock news tragedies.
