MUHS Nordic skiers sweep skate races at Sleepy Hollow

HUNTINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ and girls’ Nordic teams swept races held on Dec. 27 at the Sleepy Hollow Ski Center in Huntington, defeating a field that included Division I power Champlain Valley.
The Tiger boys, with senior Sam Hodges winning the race, scoring 14 points to defeat CVU (40), Colchester (43) and Burlington (50).
The Tiger girls, with sophomore Malia Hodges and senior Caroline Kimble finishing second and third, respectively, edged CVU, 20-28, with Colchester (47) and Burlington (75) trailing.
The top 10 finishers in the boys’ race were: 1. Sam Hodges, MUHS, 14:03; 2. Gaelen Kilburn, BHS, 14:27; 3. Thomas Hussey, MUHS, 14:27; 4. Julian Schmitt, MUHS, 15:57; 5. Gus Lunde, CVU, 16:49; 6. Owen Palcsik, MUHS, 17:04; 7. Jared Leonard, CVU 17:40; 8. Aidan Connors, CHS, 17:47; 9. Simon Kissam, BHS, 17:53; 10. Dylan Roberge, CHS, 17:56. The other MUHS boys’ varsity racer was 21. Gabriel Cason, 21:33.
The top 10 finishers in the girls’ race were: 1. Emma Strack, CVU, 18:10; 2. Malia Hodges, MUHS, 18:19; 3. Caroline Kimble, MUHS, 19:14; 4. Myla Jacobs, CHS, 19:37; 5. Addy Harris, CVU, 20:01; 6. Geneva Cote, CVU, 20:54; 7. Alicia Tebeau-Sherry, CHS, 20:56; 8. Katherine Koehler, MUHS, 21:16; 9. Audrey Huston, MUHS, 21:28; 10. Lila Carleton, CVU 22:09. Other MUHS girls’ varsity racers were 13. Isabel Olson, 22:37; and 21. Maisie Newbury, 25:59.
