MUHS boys’ hockey draws one, wins one

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team improved to 2-0-1 with a win and a tie in action last week.
U-32 will visit MUHS on Saturday at 7 p.m., and then the Tigers will host their annual holiday tournament on the following Thursday and Friday, with a pair of 7 p.m. games scheduled. Milton and Spaulding will be the Tigers’ opponents.
On this past Wednesday the Tigers settled for a 2-2 tie with visiting Stowe. Tyler Giorgio, from Brian Kiernan, gave the Tigers a 1-0 first-period lead, and Kamrin Bartlett made it 2-1 late in the second period, with an assist from Alexander Yurista. Max Carr also scored for Stowe. Raider Charlie Kerrigan netted the equalizer midway through the third period. Tiger goalie Jeffrey Stearns made 20 saves.
On Saturday the Tigers breezed past host Rice, 4-1, outshooting the Green Knights, 31-18. Devon Kearns led the attack with a goal and two assists, Kolby Farnsworth scored a goal and set one up, Giorgio and Robby Bicknell each found the net, and Bartlett recorded three assists. Stearns backstopped the win with 17 saves. Alex Ritchie scored for Rice, and goalie Silas Recica-Sullivan stopped 27 shots.
