Child actor auditions for December play are this Friday & Saturday

MIDDLEBURY — “How to Eat Like a Child,” Samuel French’s play based on the children’s book by Delia Ephron, will be coming to Middlebury in December. The Middlebury Community Players will hold auditions on Friday evening, September 8, — registration at 6:30 p.m. for a 7:00 start — and Saturday morning, Sept. 9, 9:00 a.m., registration for a 9:30 start — at Town Hall Theater, 68 South Pleasant Street, Middlebury. Those interested in auditioning need come to only one session.
There are approximately 30 roles for children of any gender, ages 8-13. Younger children will be considered if they act maturely and can read. This musical romp through the joys and sorrows of being a child is hilarious. Children give twenty-three lessons in such subjects as how to beg for a dog, how to torture your sister, how to act after being sent to your room, and how to laugh hysterically. It’s a musical revue for children that can also be enjoyed by the parents, featuring a charming and witty score.
Auditioners are asked to come prepared with a song that they will sing without accompaniment, and to dress in comfortable clothes since they will be asked to learn a short dance number. They will also be asked to read from the script.
The show will be performed from Dec. 8-10 at the MUHS auditorium.
