Poet to discuss ‘The Importance of Writing the Outdoors with Wonder’
MIDDLEBURY — In a combined talk/reading at Middlebury College on Tuesday, poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil will explore a different way of thinking about environment and discuss “wonder” as an ecological love practice in nature writing.
The March 21 presentation at The Orchard, Franklin Environmental Center, Room 103, is titled “Floating Above this Difficult World: The Importance of Writing the Outdoors with Wonder.” It will take place from 4:30-6 p.m.
Aimee Nezhukumatathil is Professor of English at State University of New York at Fredonia and 2016-17 Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi.
Her fourth book of poetry, “Oceanic,” is forthcoming from Copper Canyon and her nature essay collection is forthcoming from Milkweed in 2018. She is poetry editor of “Orion.”
This event is co-sponsored by Franklin Environmental Center, Program in Environmental Studies and Middlebury Bread Loaf Orion Writers’ Conference.
