Computer courses offered in Shoreham
SHOREHAM — With a commitment to bridge the digital divide through digital literacy training, OTT Communications (formerly known as Shoreham Telephone) is underwriting adult education through “Computers at the Library” classes at Platt Memorial Library in Shoreham.
The first class is “Are computers a mystery to you?” The very basics of computers will be taught on Monday, Dec. 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This class covers parts and process, mystifying computer vocabulary, basic mouse skills and a basic understanding of safe computer usage.
A second class, “Internet and Email” will be offered Dec. 19, Jan. 9 and Jan. 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This class covers basic Internet safety, signing up for a Gmail email account, sending, opening, and attaching files in an email and a basic overview of what there is to do on the Internet.
“There’s something for everyone to learn,” Abby Adams, librarian and director of the Platt Memorial, said. “OTT’s financial support helps us offer these totally free to the public!”
Adams explained that pre-registration is required and limited to six participants. Call the library at 897-2647 to reserve your spot. If none of the scheduled dates work with your schedule, call the library anyway, and the staff will do it’s best to find a class to fit your needs.
