Spooktacular and other Halloween activities on tap this weekend

Hey, kids! Are you ready for Halloween?
Warm up for a spooky night of trick-or-treating on Halloween by attending this Sunday afternoon’s 9th Annual Middlebury Spooktacular!
Once again, the Better Middlebury Partnership and the town of Middlebury will deliver an outstanding Halloween event for kids of all ages — rain or shine.
Hay bales, festive games and costumes will once again decorate the town green on Sunday afternoon. Starting at 1 p.m., the place will be alive with music, dancing, costumes and games for all ages. Put on your spookiest or sharpest or silliest costume, and come show it off. You can also see what your friends are wearing this year.
A children’s Main Street trick-or-treat sidewalk parade will leave the green at 2:30 p.m. led by the legendary Spooktacular Witch!
Accompanied by parents and Spooktacular volunteers, the procession will cross to the Post Office and continue along Main Street to Cannon Park, where the parade will cross and go back up the street to the town green. Merchants will pass out free candy. Happy Valley Orchard will be on hand selling their delicious cider and doughnuts and Monument Farms Dairy will be serving their tasty chocolate milk throughout the event.
“I’m not sure who has more fun at this event — the kids gathering candy and checking out their friends’ costumes, or the parents who get to visit with each other, shop a little, and take advantage of tons of great photo ops in our beautiful downtown,” said Amy Mason of Weybridge.
So, start working on your costume and get your candy bags ready. Spooktacular is almost here!
