Vermont Coffee Company’s new Playhouse theater at 1197 Exchange Street in Middlebury will present two new productions in October.  
WAR and PEACE (and other duets) with Deb Gwinn and Jim Cave, goes up this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
Gwinn and Cave have been a performing duo for the past 20 years ? mostly in the San Francisco Bay area, although locally they are known for their appearances every summer in Shakespeare in the Barn at Mary’s in Bristol. They specialize in silent comedy and musical acting. Now they bring their brand new comic work to the Vermont Coffee Company Playhouse. Tickets are $10.
Gare St Lazare Ireland will perform two Samuel Beckett prose pieces directed by Judy Hegarty Lovett and performed by Conor Lovett. Ireland is among the foremost theatre interpreters of Samuel Beckett’s work, with particular emphasis on his non-theatre writings, Ireland has a repertory of over 17 Beckett titles and has toured to over 80 cities in 25 countries worldwide. 
First Love, a short story by Samuel Beckett, that recounts an episode early in a man’s adult life where, having left his family home, he meets a young woman on a bench.  A perfect blend of tragedy and comedy. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20. 
The End, a short story in which a man recounts an episode late in his life when, having been expelled from an institution of care, he finds his own way in the world. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20.
