Bixby to offer writing classes
VERGENNES— Local screenwriter Jay Dubberly will lead a new six-week class at the Bixby Memorial Library on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. The course will focus on preparing would-be writers for the grueling process of writing a longer work.
Aimed at reducing and eliminating obstacles to completing longer works, writers with interest in or already engaged in a novel, screenplay, teleplay, stage play, graphic novel, novella, or collection of short stories or poetry are encouraged to participate. Preparing to write any work of significant length is often a daunting task to take on alone. This workshop will perform as a community to get you through your longer project.
The workshop will guide writers of all abilities through the ins-and-outs of three-act structure, as well as what makes for a compelling story and characters.
There will be no charge for the six-week class, which will be held on Monday nights from 6-8 p.m., starting Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Oct. 31, and Nov. 7, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21. There is limited space available so please make sure you are able to attend all of the classes. Contact Muir Haman, Bixby Library’s Adult Services Librarian, at 877-2211 with questions or for registration.
