Community Players to audition kids for holiday show
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Community Players “Foundations” will hold auditions for their annual holiday show, “The Nutcracker’s Adventure” on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9:30 a.m.-noon at Middlebury Union High School Auditorium. Registration is from 9-9:30 a.m.
Featuring Tchaikovsky’s well-known holiday music, this play will be a fun musical dramatic portrayal of the story. The cast calls for children ages 7-17, as well as two men and two women. (Parents, come and play with your kids!) All will learn a song and a dance.
Also be prepared to show off “special” talents like gymnastics, tumbling, juggling — any fun skill you may have! Those auditioning for a lead will also read from a script. No preparation needed. Note: Children must be 7 years old by Oct. 1 to audition. All children who audition will be offered a role.
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 6-8 p.m., and will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Additional rehearsal time will be needed as opening night nears. The show will run for three performances from Dec. 2-4, during the “Very Merry Middlebury Weekend” at the Middlebury Union High School Auditorium.
The show is written and directed by Sarah Stone, choreographed by Nancy Wollum and produced by Mary Longey. The goal of MCP Foundations is to give children and their families an introductory theater experience in performance, stagecraft, backstage and technical skills. This is an opportunity to be on stage or back stage without previous experience! So if you’d like to run a spotlight or work on the backstage crew, let us know.
