Free Gospel Choir concerts offered in Shoreham and Ripton

ADDISON COUNTY — The Addison County Gospel Choir will perform two concerts next week followed by their annual appearance at Field Days.
This renowned group, under the leadership of Suzanne Rood, is comprised of singers representing a dozen churches in Addison County. Each year they perform on the opening night of the Addison County Fair and Field Days, but you can hear a preview at this concert on Aug. 6 in Ripton and Aug. 7 in Shoreham.
The first show will take place at the Ripton Community House in the village of Ripton on Saturday, Aug. 6, 7-8 p.m. The next night, Sunday, Aug. 7, the group will sing at the Shoreham Congregational Church at 28 School Road in Shoreham beginning at 7 p.m.
There is no charge for the concerts, but a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Gospel Choir. People who attend are also encouraged to bring a can or box of food for the food pantry.
All this is a prelude to the big performance at the Addison County Fair and Field Days. The Gospel Choir will appear at the Show Tent on the fairgrounds in New Haven, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
