Florida man injured at Bartlett Falls

BRISTOL — A Florida man was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of what Vermont State Police described as a “serious injury to his neck and back” after a diving accident at Bartlett Falls in Bristol on Monday, July 18.
It was at around 12:30 p.m. that VSP troopers and Bristol police, fire and rescue officials responded to Bartlett Falls off Lincoln Road on a report of a swimmer in distress.
Upon arrival, police determined that 53-year-old Kirk Harris of Sanford, Fla., had been injured diving into shallow water from the rock ledge.
Recue officials secured Harris on a backboard and carried him out the falls area to an ambulance, which whisked him to the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
On Wednesday, UVM Medical Center reported his condition as “good,” which, according to the hospital website, means the person’s “vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.”
