Festival on-the-Green joins first statewide giving day on June 7

MIDDLEBURY — Festival on-the-Green will join more than 300 other Vermont nonprofits in participating in Vermont Gives, the Green Mountain State’s first statewide giving day, on Tuesday, June 7. Community members will have 24 hours to support this fundraising initiative. The festival is looking for everyone’s help to make the campaign a success.
Vermont Gives is an initiative of Common Good Vermont, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs and resources that support nonprofit organizational capacity.
On June 7, starting at 12:01 a.m., people who wish to support the Festival on-the-Green are asked to visit www.VTGives.org and make a donation to Festival on-the-Green and to any of the other participating Vermont nonprofits. A gift, large or small, helps continue a nearly-four-decades tradition of bringing top-quality, family-friendly entertainment to the residents and guests of Addison County for one week each summer with no admission fee.
The festival, a 2016 Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Summer Event, is an all-volunteer organization. Because it has no paid staff, 100 percent of each donation goes toward presenting the event, which features 17 acts over seven days. This year, for its 38th season, the festival returns to the village green after two summers at the recreation park.
The week kicks off on Sunday, July 10, at 7 p.m. with a performance by the New Nile Orchestra offering Ethiopian traditional music with world, funk, jazz, hip-hop and Afro-Cuban styles. To see the full schedule, visit www.festivalonthegreen.org.
