Bristol police will dispose of medication dropped of Saturday
BRISTOL — The Bristol Police Department has will hold a Drug Take Back event this Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents of the five-town area — Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro — can drop off their unused or expired medications at the Bristol Police Department at 72 Munsill Ave. at BristolWorks so that they can be properly disposed of.
The Vermont Department of Health calls unused and expired medicine “Vermont’s most dangerous leftovers.” The Health Department cautions that it’s unsafe to flush drugs down the toilet or wash them down the sink and that improperly disposed of drugs can harm water sources, wildlife, pets and people.
Proper disposal is also important, according to the Health Department, because most people who abuse prescription drugs get them from relatives.
