Vergennes Police Log: Police deal with family disputes, unruly customers

VERGENNES — Vergennes police between Jan. 25 and 31 dealt with a variety of incidents, including a family dispute, a possible case of driving under the influence of drugs, a jewelry theft, and an unruly drugstore customer.
In those seven days, Vergennes police:
•  On Jan. 25 helped a car owner get into a locked vehicle on Monkton Road.
•  On Jan. 25 checked the welfare of a Main Street woman on behalf of a friend; she was found to be OK.
•  On Jan. 25 ticketed two cars parked in violation of the city’s wintertime overnight parking ban.
•  On Jan. 25 were told by a Monkton Road resident that sometime in the past two weeks rings had been stolen from a jewelry box in her home.
•  On Jan. 26 helped a car owner get into a locked vehicle on South Water Street.
•  On Jan. 26 responded to a complaint that a customer at the Marble Works Pharmacy had become belligerent when told a prescription could not be filled because it was too early per its refill date. Police cited Ryan P. Moulton, 27, of Ferrisburgh for disorderly conduct for this incident and issued him a no-trespass order on behalf of the business.
•  On Jan. 27 accepted a wallet found by a citizen at Shaw’s Supermarket and contacted its owner.
•  On Jan. 27 ticketed Christina St. Pierre, 40, of Crown Point, N.Y., for possession of marijuana at a Main Street traffic stop and processed her for driving under the influence of drugs after she failed roadside sobriety testing; an evidentiary blood test will determine if she faces DUI charges, police said.
•  On Jan. 27 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad at an East Street medical call.
•  On Jan. 28 responded along with VARS and firefighters to a one-car accident with minor injuries on Monkton Road.
•  On Jan. 28 went to Shoreham to help police with multiple accidents.
•  On Jan. 29 cited Kenneth Lavornia, 28, of Vergennes for driving with a civilly suspended license, seventh offense, and for driving with plates not assigned and without insurance.
•  On Jan. 29 served a citation to a Ferrisburgh resident on behalf of St. Albans police.
•  On Jan. 29 dealt with a vehicle blocking a Vergennes Union High School fire lane during a basketball game.
•  On Jan. 31 responded to a report of kids on the Vergennes Union Elementary School roof, but found no one.
•  On Jan. 31 checked the welfare of a Maple Manor woman, who was found to be OK.
•  On Jan. 31 calmed a mother-daughter dispute at a West Main Street residence.
