MUHS gymnasts enjoy home meet
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School gymnastics team cruised past visiting U-32 on Tuesday, 114.9-62.3, as Tiger gymnasts Emily Laframboise, Lian McGarry, Anna Buteau and Leah Raymond won outright or tied for first in one event.
Non-scoring Mount Abraham independent Abby Perlee posted scores good enough to win two events, as did Middlebury male student Nick Scott, whose scores of 8.4 on the vault and 7.8 on bars would have earned him first place if he were eligible.
The only scorers among a quartet of U-32 gymnasts were Judith Witke-Mele, who won the floor exercise and was second in the all-around behind Perlee, making her technically the winner, and Lydia Rice, who was sixth in the all-around.
Harwood had been scheduled to compete at the meet, but Harwood officials canceled all after-school activities due to concerns about the weather. MUHS is scheduled to visit Harwood on the 29th.
The team’s final home meet, at Middlebury Union Middle School, is set for Feb. 10 vs. Milton.
